Purpose:
As the congregation spread far and wide, we felt the need to pitch the tent in Bangalore, as the Center of South Mission in 1973. It was also meant for vocation promotion and serve as a study house for sisters and candidates. Reading the signs of the time, the house did not remain merely for administration, but started reaching out to the needy. A community center was opened for low income working women. Sisters collaborated with the parish in socio-pastoral work especially in cottage industry of the parish. Later on this house was raised as the Regional house and then Provincial House of the South Province.
Social-cultural background:
The area comprises of a dynamic blend of people, belonging to various religious communities, diverse languages and cultures. We find people live in peace and harmony. Being the well developed city, there are lots of opportunities for the young to spread their wings to the wider horizon. The other sides of the location people live in poor facilities, broken families, working hard to earn even their daily livelihood. The common factor in the area is that many homes are with the senior members. Some are cared by their children yet some lack the caring that they should receive in their golden age. Generally the people speak Kannada, English, Tamil and Hindi.
