Purpose:
To proclaim the message of Christ, Holy Cross sisters started their mission in Trasi way back in the year 1967, the very first community in southern India. Sensing the urgent need for health care service, sisters decided to found a Hospital in the place. In the next two decades the centre grew and gained momentum in offering their dedicated service to the poor and sick.
Gradually with the onset of advanced medical technology and speciality services in the cities, the demand for our hospital grew thin. Left with no choice, sisters went ahead to make the required modifications and additions to suit the need for a ‘Home for the Aged’ with 30 beds. Thus the Holy Cross Home for the Aged replaced the Hospital in 1992.

Senior Citizens Home
Service 1
The modern society unfortunately, has been witnessing a declining social value system with all the enticing comforts and progress that have come along. Young families are compelled to move to cities or abroad due to their occupational commitments and for the future prospects of their children. The elderly parents often become a liability. Quite naturally they resort to getting a seat booked for them in a suitable home for the aged to spend the rest of their life. These homes are erected, an essential service today, to offer special care for those who are in the evenings of their life.
Recognising the need of the hour, the Holy Cross Sisters decided to start a ‘Home for the Aged’ in Trasi near Kundapur, Karnataka State
The objective of launching the Home for the Aged is to bring wholeness into the lives of the tired and battered elderly persons who would like to spend the last phase of their life in a peaceful and loving atmosphere. A healthy Family environment maintained is in the Home. There is no disparity whatsoever as all the inmates are treated equally well while ensuring and upholding each one’s individuality and dignity. Regular Health check-up and recreational activities are arranged for the in-mates. Adequate room facilities and the hygienic up-keep of the house is ensured at all cost. The house is surrounded by lush green gardens which add to the serenity of the location and helps the inmates to sit back and relax.
At present the old age home has 23 inmates. With much care and compassion, Sisters serve them day or night and look after their physical, psychological, moral and spiritual needs. The inmates are happy and live joyfully in the company of sisters. They offer Christ’s comforting presence, healing touch and loving care to the elderly.
