Purpose:
The purpose was to reach out to the under privileged (Tribals and Srilankan repatriates.) through medical, socio pastoral and later on education.
Social-cultural background:
Devala is a village populated with tribals, Sri Lankan repatriates and settlers from other parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The main occupation of the people is to work in the tea gardens. Some work in abandoned gold mines. People are hard working and peace loving. Majority are economically poor. Though they are of different cultures there is adaptability and unity.

Committed to nurturing minds, the sisters manage schools and educational programs for holistic development.
Dedicated to spiritual guidance, the sisters support faith formation and personal growth. They lead prayer services, retreats, and provide emotional and moral support to those in need.

The medical apostolate is centered on the dispensary. In spite of the medical schemes and privileges by the government a good number of patients avail the facilities of the dispensary. Most of the snake bite patients rush to our dispensary and get timely treatment. Due to the availability of pathological tests and the services of the doctor the number of patients has increased steadily. The Charitable Institutions of the neighborhood conduct medical camps in the school premises with the help of the dispensary. Many people profit from these free health camps. From the inception of this health center it has treated many critical cases all trusting in the Almighty.
